He just twittered this: “Scozzafava dropping out leaves hoffman as only anti-tax anti-pelosi vote in ny 23 Every voter opposed to tax increases support doug hoffman (sic).”

Well, it’s something. But does he honestly think Scozzafava, who was endorsed by ACORN and The Daily Kos and was further to the left than the Democrat candidate Owens, would have been an ANTI-Pelosi vote?? Newt has egg on his face; it’s time he swallowed his pride and admitted he was wrong or defect to the Dems.

Next: the national GOP must dump Charlie Crist and throw their full support behind Marco Rubio in Florida. NO MORE RINOS!

Leftist Scozzafava withdraws from race in NY23!

[UPDATE: Fox News and the Watertown Daily confirm Scozzafava has withdrawn her candidacy.] The word going around the blogosphere is that extreme-liberal Dede Scozzafava, running inexplicably as the Republican candidate in New York’s 23rd Congressional district, has withdrawn from the race! The decision reportedly came after a new Siena poll showed her at 20% with Democrat Owens and Conservative Hoffman in a statistical dead-heat at 36 and 35%, respectively.

This is a huge victory for conservatives over both Obama and the Republican leadership. The Siena poll showed Owens receiving 2/3 of his support from Democrat voters while only half of Hoffman’s support came from Republicans. One can assume most of Scozzafava’s Republican backers will now go with Hoffman; if they don’t, they are really Democrats anyway and we don’t need them in the party. As Marco Rubio (running for the Senate in Florida) said, we don’t need two Democratic parties, and from Sarah Palin, “Parties must stand for something.” Lord, is it any wonder we love her?

Obama turning off voters

A very dear friend of mine reports that her heretofore solidly Democratic husband, a baby-boomer who belongs to an ethno-religious group that is also solidly Democratic and counts Russia among his family roots, is having second thoughts about our Dear Leader. He is even reading a conservative book (she couldn’t remember the name). His questions are arising solely out of Obama’s governing and not from any outside influence. Unless you count his financial interests.

This is up-close proof that Obama is, as Limbaugh says, “single-handedly destroying the Democratic party,” showing voters exactly who Democrats are and what they stand for. My prediction is that not only former independents but also disaffected Democrats will join with conservative Republicans to save America in 2010 and 2012.

NY-23: Hoffman in the lead!

The latest poll commissioned by the Club for Growth shows Doug Hoffman “surging ahead” in the race for Congressional district 23 in New York. His claim on likely voters is now 31.3%, ahead of Democrat Bill Owens at 27% and crushing RINO Scozzafava at 19.7%. Twenty-two percent are undecided.

“‘Hoffman now has a wide lead among both Republicans and Independents, while Owens has a wide lead among Democrats. Dede Scozzafava’s support continues to collapse, making this essentially a two-candidate race between Hoffman and Owens in the final week,’ concluded Basswood Research’s pollster Jon Lerner, who conducted the poll for the Club.”

We can’t break out the champagne for a conservative victory just yet as the poll’s margin of error is +/- 5.66% and Hoffman’s lead over Owens is 4.3%. However, Hoffman is the only candidate to show gains in each successive poll showing he has the momentum in the race. Given that this race is a bit of a bellweather for 2010, Hoffman’s ascendancy is thrilling indeed.

Gallup: Conservatives continue to gain

As first found in June, the latest Gallup poll shows that Americans who call themselves conservative (40%) continue to outnumber moderates (36%) and liberals (20%). Not only does the conservative ideology continue its dominance but its adherents are increasing, with liberals losing one percentage point and moderates two since the last poll in June while Conservatives have gained three. That’s enough to win elections even with all the Democratic voter fraud.

Gallup’s 2009 surveys indicate a reverse in American political identification from 2005-2008 years when more people identified as moderate. (The number identifying as liberal has remained static throughout the decade.) The last time the conservative group was this numerous was in 2004, when President Bush was re-elected. I sincerely hope the “establishment” Repubs — those who nominate and support RINOS — are paying close attention. Unfortunately, they’ve been pooh-poohing NY-23 (Hoffman and Scozzafava) significance.

Cleaning House: Charlie Crist

Marco Rubio’s chances of becoming the junior senator from Florida are looking very good indeed. Florida governor and big-league RINO Charlie Crist is looking to be the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate election next year. His rival for that nomination is former Florida Speaker of the House, Marco Rubio, a true conservative with a solid track record. (He advocates not only a fence on the Mexico border but also the forcible rounding-up and deportation of illegals! I’ve never heard another politician say that!) Rubio has been winning straw poll after straw poll for months but the national GOP leadership has maintained that Rubio can’t win against a Democrat. Now, a new Rasmussen poll puts paid to that notion, showing that Rubio currently leads the likely Democrat nominee by 15 percentage points. Yes, FIFTEEN.

All that remains is for Rubio to win the primary. Unfortunately, he still lags in the polls behind Crist but surveys have shown that’s because not every Republican voter knows who Rubio is. Among those aware of him, his support is overwhelming. He’s been getting great word-of-mouth among Florida conservatives (thank you, Lady Florida!) but he needs national party money to help get his message out; hopefully, after what’s happening in New York that won’t be a problem.
